I am a lifelong Chicago resident and have lived in North Mayfair since 2001. My wife, Tracy and I have three boys, two attend public schools. I’ve worked in the non-profit sector my entire career and 15 years of experience in financial administration. I earned my BA in Political Science from Indiana University. At DePaul University, I completed a Masters in Public Service Management and certificates in Metropolitan Planning and Project Management. I received the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Award from Public Allies Chicago and have been a long-time board member of Chicago Youth Centers’ Fellowship House in Bridgeport, serving as Board Chair for six years. I look forward to working with fellow board members, to build a conversation with residents and establish cooperative relationships with area businesses.

I have been a resident of North Mayfair for over 20 years. I grew up in Chicago, one neighborhood away, and attended St. Edward’s Elementary School, Good Counsel High School and North Park University. By day, I am the Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President for an Investment Advisory Firm and two mutual funds. By night, I am the chief cook, dog walker and conductor of all things that are Burmeister. Always, I am Matt and Lizzie’s mom and Larry’s wife – my three greatest accomplishments.
I started out on a farm in Indiana and moved to Chicago after graduating from Wittenberg University. I love living here and am glad I ended up in North Mayfair. I feel blessed to have such wonderful neighbors and such a tight-knit community. My daughter attended Beaubien and Northside and is now at University of Chicago. I’ve had a long career as a meeting and tradeshow manager working in the non-profit and medical association industry. I enjoy exploring the city and am still overwhelmed by the many interesting things Chicago has to offer. I’m also a bit of a music freak and enjoy discovering new bands. There are exciting things happening in North Mayfair and our surrounding communities. If we all work together and use our strengths to address neighborhood needs and ambitions, North Mayfair will continue to grow as a vibrant community.
